How To Dress For An Interview

So you got an interview, congrats! But now comes the hard part, what should you wear?

Well a good way to get started is to do some research.

How do the people who work there dress? All black? Uniform? Suite and tie? Evaluate the situation and the tone of the work place and build from there.

If you can, see if you can find out what other people wore to their interviews. Places like Glass Door and other websites, people usually will help you out with any questions about working for their old company.

Okay so you kinda know what to wear now, what now?

A good rule of thumb is to dress one step up from what people who work there dress like, and if you can wear an outfit that is very similar to those who work there but the next step up. It gives the impression that you’re ready to work in that place and that you’ve done your research.

An example I would give is, say you got an interview at Starbucks. They used to wear all black but now they wear their casual clothes.

So if I were you, I’d wear all black and something dressy casual. Like black jeans and a nice blouse.
