So you’ve cleaned out your closet, using this guide How To Clean Out Your Closet already. Great! That makes thing much easier. You’ve cleared out all the clothes that don’t fit you anymore, you never wear and are damaged.
It’s time for round two.
You probably have somewhere around 50 to 80 pieces left in your closet still. It’s time to get nitty gritty.
If you think 36 is a good number, then the basic formula is 10 shirts, 3 sweaters, 2 jackets, 3 pairs of jeans, 2 pairs of pants, 3 pairs of leggings, 2 skirts, 5 dresses, and 5 pairs of shoes. This adds up to 35, add more or less to work for you and your lifestyle.
All of these pieces need to mix and match. This is your challenge. This may or may not happen with the clothes currently in your wardrobe. You may need to buy a few new pieces to fill in holes.
Now, this is where most people go into the classic minimalist look. Solid colors, grays, blacks and whites. Maybe green if they’re feeling kinda frisky.
Your closet does not have to be made up of all basics. Your minimalist wardrobe could be a hippy minimalist wardrobe, or an ultra chic neon inspired look. A minimalist closet is a frame of mind, not a style.
